Miracle, a false killer whale (Pseudorca crassidens), stranded in Sargent on November 16, 1996. Unfortunately, the rescue truck became stuck in the marsh and the team spent the night in the truck with her until help could arrive the following day. She was then airlifted by helicopter in a cargo sling 18 miles and taken to the TMMSN rehabilitation team. Blood cultures revealed several blood abnormalities and she succumbed to her health problems on November 20, 1996. Miracle was estimated to be under 2 years old at the time of her passing and necropsy revealed signs of cardiomyopathy.
