PER001 - Rice

PER001 Rice, an adult male bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), was reported on October 11, 2005 following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. TMMSN responded and on October 13, 2005, we were able to rescue the animal safely with the use of a net. This male was found in a borrow pit along a dirt road near Freshwater Bayou in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana. The health of the dolphin was assessed and he was released back into the Gulf of Mexico.
